Coca-Cola Pakistan plays its role to increase Islamabad's green landscape

Reaffirming its commitment to environmental sustainability, Coca-Cola Pakistan has joined hands with the Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) to launch a Spring 2026 tree plantation campaign at Islamabad International Airport (IIAP).

The initiative focuses on planting climate-resilient, indigenous tree species in designated areas across the airport premises. The effort aims to enhance Islamabad’s green landscape while aligning with the Government of Pakistan’s broader environmental and climate resilience goals.

The campaign was formally inaugurated by Mr. Aftab Gilani, Chief Operating Officer of IIAP, alongside Mr. Sami Wahid, Country Head of Coca-Cola Pakistan, and Dr. Faisal Hashmi, Senior Director for Public Affairs, Communications & Sustainability at Coca-Cola Pakistan & Afghanistan. The ceremony included the symbolic planting of the first tree near the designated project site.

Speaking at the launch, Mr. Gilani highlighted the airport’s unique position as both a national gateway and a symbol of Pakistan’s identity. He emphasized that the plantation drive reflects PAA’s vision of promoting sustainable airport operations—balancing aviation excellence with environmental responsibility—while complementing Islamabad’s scenic Margalla Hills backdrop and carefully planned urban setting. He also acknowledged the importance of partnerships with organizations such as Coca-Cola Pakistan in advancing these goals.

Mr. Sami Wahid expressed the company’s support for PAA’s leadership, noting that airports create a lasting first impression for international visitors. By contributing to the greening initiative, Coca-Cola Pakistan aims to help present an environmentally responsible and sustainable image of the country.

Dr. Faisal Hashmi added that the collaboration demonstrates how private-sector engagement can strengthen public-sector sustainability initiatives. He reiterated Coca-Cola Pakistan’s commitment to supporting environmentally friendly infrastructure that enhances the travel experience.
