Pakistan and Saudi Arabia to enhance cooperation through joint air exercises
Pakistan and Saudi Arabia have agreed to further
strengthen cooperation between their air forces, with an emphasis on joint
training and the development of multi-domain warfare capabilities. The
understanding was reached during high-level meetings held in Saudi Arabia this
week, Pakistan’s military said on Thursday.
The discussions come as Saudi Arabia continues
efforts to modernize its air and missile defence systems, while Pakistan seeks
to broaden its defence diplomacy with Gulf states amid evolving regional
security dynamics and an increasing focus on advanced warfare technologies.
Pakistan’s Chief of Air Staff, Air Chief
Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, met with the Commander of the Royal Saudi Air
Force, Turki bin Bander bin Abdulaziz, and Saudi Arabia’s Chief of the General
Staff, Fayiadh bin Hameed Al-Rowaily, during his official visit to the Kingdom.
According to a statement from the military’s media wing, the meetings focused

and reaffirmed his commitment to expanding military collaboration through

the Pakistan Air Force into a modern multi-domain force, integrating space,
cyber, electronic warfare, and artificial intelligence capabilities, as
reflected in its operational performance.
Saudi defence leaders praised the Pakistan Air
Force for its professionalism, operational competence, and state of readiness.
They expressed strong interest in enhancing joint training initiatives and
operational cooperation, particularly in the area of evolving multi-domain
operations.

Beyond
military ties, the two countries maintain regular consultations on regional
security issues as part of a broader strategic partnership encompassing
defence, economic cooperation, and diplomatic coordination. Their relationship
was further reinforced in September last year with the signing of a mutual
defence pact committing both sides to support each other in the event of
external aggression.
