A contingent of the Pakistan Air Force (PAF) arrived in Saudi Arabia on Tuesday to participate in the multinational aerial combat exercise “Spears of Victory-2025.”

The PAF contingent, which includes JF-17 Thunder Block-III fighter jets along with air and ground crew, landed at King Abdul Aziz Air Base, according to an official statement from the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR).

Hosted by the Royal Saudi Air Force, the fifth cycle of the exercise aims to enhance interoperability among participating air forces in light of advancing technologies, increasing airpower complexities, and shared aerial defense challenges.

On their journey to Saudi Arabia, PAF fighter jets showcased their advanced capabilities by flying non-stop from their home base in Pakistan to Saudi Arabia, utilizing in-flight air-to-air refueling. This demonstrated the long-range operational capabilities of the JF-17 Block-III aircraft.

The ISPR statement highlighted that PAF pilots operating AESA radar-equipped and extended-range BVR (Beyond Visual Range) JF-17 Thunder jets will engage in complex scenarios against advanced fighter jets from participating countries. The exercise features combat aircraft and support elements from Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, Bahrain, France, Greece, Qatar, UAE, UK, and the USA.

“PAF’s participation underscores its commitment to regional and international collaboration while showcasing its ability to operate in diverse and challenging environments alongside contemporary air forces,” the ISPR remarked.

The exercise provides an invaluable platform for sharing knowledge, improving tactics, and fostering partnerships among nations to address evolving aerial combat challenges.
