Emergency exercise held at Sukkur Airport to check preparedness
The Pakistan
Airports Authority (PAA) on Wednesday carried out a full-scale airport
emergency exercise, titled Safe Sky-2025, at Begum
Nusrat Bhutto Airport in Sukkur.
Chairman District Council Sukkur
Syed Kamil Hyder Shah and Sukkur Divisional Commissioner Abid Saleem Qureshi
attended the exercise as chief guests.

The mock drill tested coordinated response mechanisms involving airside operations, multiple PAA departments, medical services, firefighting units and rescue teams. Participating agencies included Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), PAA, Rescue 1122, Edhi Foundation, Civil Hospital Sukkur, Sukkur Blood Bank Hospital, Sindh Police and Traffic Police.
Several senior officials observed
the exercise and commended the efficiency and professionalism of the
firefighting and medical teams.

Airport to be expanded to accommodate more passengers
Addressing the participants, Commissioner Qureshi stressed the importance of preparedness in effectively managing emergency situations and urged passengers to adhere to standard operating procedures while travelling. Airport Manager Saeed Abbasi said the drill is conducted every two years to evaluate equipment functionality and staff readiness, ensuring the airport remains fully prepared to respond to any emergency.
