Pakistan, Oman civil aviation authorities sign MoU to improve search and rescue capabilities
The Pakistan
Airports Authority (PAA) and the Civil
Aviation Authority of Oman (CAA Oman) have signed a memorandum of
understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in search and rescue operations
through joint exercises and improved response mechanisms, the PAA announced on
Wednesday.
The agreement was formalized during
a visit by a ten-member Omani delegation led by Saleh
Al Harthy, Director General of Air Navigation at CAA Oman, to the PAA
headquarters in Karachi. The delegation was welcomed by PAA Director General
Air Vice Marshal Zeeshan Saeed.

Discussions between the two sides focused on strengthening collaboration in air navigation, airport management, technical exchange, and capacity building. The MoU aims to promote joint training, bolster emergency response systems, and facilitate the exchange of expertise in aviation safety and rescue operations.
According to the PAA, the two
authorities also agreed to explore ways to enhance operational efficiency and
regional air connectivity between Pakistan and Oman.

Air Vice Marshal Saeed emphasized that partnerships like this reflect Pakistan’s commitment to adopting international best practices and improving regional aviation safety standards.
“The visit of the Omani delegation
marks a significant step in advancing civil aviation cooperation between
Pakistan and the Sultanate of Oman, paving the way for deeper collaboration
across technical and operational fields,” the PAA stated.
