Pakistan Airports Authority approves upgradation of Sukkur, DI Khan airports
The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has
approved the upgradation of Sukkur and Dera Ismail Khan airports to
international standards, alongside several other major development projects.
According to sources, Sukkur
Airport will undergo expansion, including runway upgrades, while DI Khan
Airport will be completely reconstructed into a modern facility.
The PAA Board of Directors also sanctioned the expansion of Rahim Yar Khan Airport, which will include runway extension and infrastructure renovation.

In addition, the federal government will decide on the construction of a new airport in Mirpur following the completion of a feasibility study.
These decisions were confirmed during the authority’s latest board meeting.

Earlier, the PML-N-led federal government had announced plans to build an airport in Azad Jammu and Kashmir (AJK), following longstanding demands from overseas Pakistanis. The move also received support from British MPs of Kashmiri origin, who urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to approve the project.
