Five perish in Pakistan's army helicopter crash
Five Pakistan Army personnel, including two pilots, were killed on Monday when an Army Aviation helicopter crashed near the Thore area of Chilas in Diamer district, Gilgit-Baltistan.
According to the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the MI-17 helicopter was on a routine training mission when it developed a technical fault. The aircraft attempted an emergency landing near Hudur village, about 12 kilometers from Thakdas Cantt, but crashed.

Diamer District Police Officer Abdul Hameed confirmed that all five on board—two army majors and three technical crew members—lost their lives.
Sources at Chilas Regional Headquarters Hospital
identified the fallen as Major Atif, Major Faisal, Naib Subedar Maqbool,
Havaldar Jahangir, and Naik Aamir.
Rescue teams, local administration, and law
enforcement agencies reached the site immediately, while efforts were made to
extinguish the fire that erupted after the crash. Senior officials, including
the Commander FCNA, DG GB Scouts, and Commissioner Diamer Division, also
visited the site.
The Gilgit-Baltistan Chief Minister expressed profound grief over the tragedy and directed authorities to extend full support in rescue operations.

This is the second helicopter crash within weeks. On August 15, a government helicopter went down during relief operations in Mohmand district, claiming the lives of two pilots and five crew members.
