Workers complete work on Jinnah International Airport before deadline

The Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA) has achieved a major milestone in its upgrade of Jinnah International Airport, announcing the early completion of Pavement Quality Concrete (PQC) works on the main runway (07L/25R).

Originally slated for late August, the PQC phase wrapped up on July 30 — four weeks ahead of schedule. Officials credited the accelerated progress to advanced slipform paving technology and 24/7 operational shifts that kept work moving without interruption.

Alongside the runway upgrade, installation of a cutting-edge Airfield Lighting (AFL) system is in progress. This includes modern runway lights, taxiway guidance signs, cables, and constant current regulators, all sourced from leading international suppliers to meet global aviation standards.

Final runway markings and taxiway painting are now underway, signaling the project’s completion is close at hand.
