Karachi Airport runway to undergo extended closure
for repairs
Jinnah International Airport in Karachi will
undergo an extensive five-month closure of its runway for repair work.
The closure, scheduled to begin on Monday and
continue until January 23, 2024, is attributed to routine maintenance needs.
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has stated
that the primary runway, designated as 25-L, will undergo repairs from Monday
to Sunday for two to three hours each day. The reason for the closure is the
presence of minor cracks on the runway that require prompt attention.
During this period of closure, flight
operations will be directed to utilize the alternate or secondary runway, as
informed by the CAA.
The repair work aims to ensure the safety and
efficiency of flight operations at Jinnah International Airport, a crucial hub
for air travel in Pakistan.
