Bahrain and Pakistan explore increased cooperation between their air forces
Pakistan and Bahrain have reaffirmed
their commitment to strengthening bilateral security cooperation, with a focus
on counter-terrorism, anti-narcotics, and combating human trafficking.
The agreement came during a meeting
in Manama between Pakistan’s Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and Bahrain’s
Interior Minister General Sheikh Rashid bin Abdullah Al Khalifa. Both sides
also discussed revitalizing the Pakistan-Bahrain Joint Security Committee to
make it more effective in addressing shared security concerns.

General Al Khalifa praised
Pakistan’s continued support and emphasized the importance Bahrain places on
its security partnership with Islamabad. Minister Naqvi stressed the urgency of
enhancing collaboration in tackling narcotics and human trafficking, calling it
the “need of the hour.”
Earlier, on March 13, Air Chief
Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu reiterated Pakistan’s commitment to deepening
military ties with Bahrain during a meeting with General Shaikh Mohammed Bin
Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, in
Islamabad.
The air chief underscored the
historic and religious bonds between the two nations, highlighting close
cooperation in defense and training. The Bahraini commander expressed strong
interest in enhanced air force collaboration, including technical support and
training from the Pakistan Air Force (PAF).

He also showed interest in PAF’s
expertise in space, cyber, and electronic warfare, and discussed potential
procurement of technology from Pakistan’s National Aerospace Science and
Technology Park, aiming to improve the operational readiness of the Bahrain Air
Force.
