PIA to earn substantial revenue from direct flights to Europe
Pakistan International Airlines
(PIA) is set to earn over Rs107 million in revenue from its inaugural direct
flight to Paris, scheduled for January 10.
The flight, departing from Islamabad
at 12:10 pm, marks the resumption of the Paris route after a
four-and-a-half-year suspension, following the EU’s ban in 2020. The ban,
imposed after the crash of flight 8303 and concerns over pilot license
validity, has now been lifted, allowing PIA to relaunch its European routes. A
PIA spokesperson confirmed that nearly all seats for the round
trip—Islamabad-Paris and Paris-Islamabad—are fully booked.

“The airline has experienced strong
demand for this new route, with both inaugural flights completely sold out,”
the spokesperson said, adding that PIA has introduced an in-flight wireless
entertainment system, allowing passengers to access content via their mobile
phones, tablets, or laptops.
PIA will operate two weekly direct
flights to Paris. Despite this high demand, nearly 40% of the business class
seats on the inaugural flight are occupied by airline officials.

The spokesperson also emphasized the
cost-effective ticket options and time-saving benefits offered by these direct
flights, which are expected to attract a significant number of passengers
traveling between Pakistan and France.
