Ahsan Iqbal directs SUPARCO to prepare business plan for PakSat-MM1
Minister for Planning, Development, and Special Initiatives, Professor Ahsan
Iqbal, has directed the Pakistan Space & Upper Atmosphere Research
Commission (SUPARCO) to prepare a comprehensive business plan for the recently
launched PakSat-MM1, the country's first multi-mission satellite.
The directive was issued during a meeting with SUPARCO Chairman Muhammad
Yousaf Khan, who visited the Minister in Islamabad, according to a news
release.

The meeting focused on key initiatives, including the commercialization of
the PakSat-MM1 satellite and the development of agricultural monitoring
technologies. Minister Iqbal emphasized the importance of working closely with
the Ministry of Information Technology to create a detailed strategy for the
satellite's commercialization to fully capitalize on its potential.
SUPARCO’s chairman updated the Minister on efforts to enhance agricultural
monitoring, which are assisting farmers in achieving better crop yields.
Iqbal also instructed SUPARCO officials to integrate their work with the
Land Information and Management System to gather consolidated data. He stressed
the need for stronger collaborations with other institutions to expand the use
of satellite remote sensing and Geographic Information Systems (GIS) for
improving business processes.

Furthermore, the Minister announced plans to host a symposium later this month under the “URAAN Pakistan” initiative at the Institute of Space Technology. Titled “Beyond the Stars, New Worlds Await,” the symposium will focus on emerging opportunities in space exploration and research.
