Feral dogs cause safety issues at Karachi Airport

Karachi Airport is grappling with a growing safety concern as stray dogs increasingly roam the General Aviation hangars, endangering flight operations. The area, which houses training aircraft, has experienced several near-misses involving the animals, raising alarms over potential accidents.

In a recent incident, a stray dog narrowly avoided colliding with a taxiing aircraft, prompting authorities to cancel the flight as a precautionary measure. Additionally, reports suggest that stray dogs have been spotted near Jinnah Terminal’s main runway, further compounding safety issues at the airport.

The problem extends beyond stray animals, with debris—such as metal fragments—scattered around the hangars, presenting additional hazards. These obstructions have led to tire bursts on aircraft, causing delays, cancellations, and significant financial losses due to costly tire replacements.
