Salaries of PIA employees could be raised after 8 years
After nearly a decade, Pakistan
International Airlines (PIA) employees may be on the verge of a long-awaited
salary increase. A proposal for a pay raise is set to be presented during a
meeting of the PIA Board’s HR Committee, offering hope to employees who haven’t
seen a salary adjustment since 2015.
If the HR Committee approves the
plan, it will move to the Board of Directors for final approval. Given the
prolonged economic challenges and rising inflation, this potential raise could
provide much-needed relief to the airline’s staff, who have been struggling
with stagnant wages.

Hidayatullah Khan, President of the
PIA Employees’ Union (CBA), recently emphasized the severe financial stress
employees are facing due to the country’s ongoing economic hardships. He
highlighted how inflation has made it increasingly difficult for staff to cope
without a salary increase for eight years.
While the meeting won’t yield an
immediate decision, it marks a crucial step in addressing employee grievances
and easing their financial burdens. PIA staff, who have kept the airline
running despite immense challenges, are now waiting anxiously for a positive
outcome.
