Sukkur
airport to undergo major expansion
The Pakistan Airports Authority
(PAA) has completed the initial planning phase for a major expansion of Sukkur
Airport, which will enable it to accommodate Boeing 777 aircraft. This
announcement was made during the first-ever e-Kacheri session.
PAA Director General, Air Vice
Marshal (AVM) Zeeshan Saeed SI(M), confirmed that land acquisition for the
project is currently underway. The expansion is part of a broader initiative to
enhance regional connectivity and modernize Pakistan's aviation infrastructure.
This effort includes over 100 development projects, such as upgrades to
Karachi, Lahore, and Skardu Airports.

During the interactive session, AVM
Saeed addressed various operational challenges, including passenger security
and facility management. He also highlighted improvements at Lahore’s Allama
Iqbal International Airport, where baggage handling now complies with IATA
standards.
Additionally, the PAA announced
plans to enhance visitor experiences at various facilities, including the
Gandhara Art Gallery, and issued directives aimed at improving airport
environments across the country.
