New Gwadar Airport to start operations by month-end
The Acting Director General of the
Pakistan Airports Authority (PAA), Air Vice Marshal (AVM) Zeeshan Saeed,
visited the New Gwadar International Airport (NGIAP) to assess its
operational readiness. He was joined by Deputy DG Airports, Engr Sadiq Ur
Rehman, and Project Director, Engr Faiz Ullah Khattak.
During the visit, the team engaged
with representatives from key stakeholders, including the Gwadar Development
Authority (GDA), Gwadar Port Authority (GPA), Gwadar Chamber of Commerce,
Pakistan Navy, Pakistan Army, and others, to ensure the smooth operation of the
airport.

Project Director Engr Faiz Ullah
Khattak briefed the delegation on the state-of-the-art features of NGIAP and
its significant potential to boost business and investment opportunities in the
region. AVM Zeeshan Saeed expressed his satisfaction with the airport’s
progress and commended the project team for their hard work. He reaffirmed
PAA’s commitment to making the airport fully operational by the end of this
month.
The New Gwadar International
Airport, a key project under the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), is
expected to be a major catalyst for economic growth and regional connectivity.
Funded with Chinese assistance at an estimated cost of $246 million, the
airport features modern facilities, including a world-class terminal and a
runway designed to accommodate large aircraft.
