Pakistan and Azerbaijan seeking to increase cooperation between their air forces
A high-level defence delegation from Azerbaijan, led by Deputy Minister of Defence and Director General Agil Gurbanov, along with Lieutenant General Namig Islamzade, Deputy Minister of Defence and Commander of the Azerbaijan Air Force, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff of the Pakistan Air Force, at Air Headquarters on Tuesday.
During the meeting, the Air Chief highlighted the recent achievements of the Pakistan Air Force, showcasing his vision for operational excellence in modern warfare. A press release from the Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) mentioned that the Air Chief reiterated his commitment to further strengthening bilateral ties, particularly in the areas of operational cooperation and training.

The Air Chief also emphasized the importance of training collaboration, noting that a large contingent of Azeri air and ground personnel is currently undergoing training at an operational PAF base. He confirmed that the training program is progressing on schedule, with over 50% of the objectives already completed. He expressed confidence that the initiative would conclude within a month, further enhancing the operational capabilities of the Azerbaijan Air Force.
The visiting delegation expressed admiration for the professionalism of the Pakistan Air Force and praised its significant achievements in developing a strong domestic aviation industry in a short period. The delegation also acknowledged the training of 70 Azeri aircrew and technicians within the PAF and expressed interest in increasing Air Force-to-Air Force collaboration between the two nations.

Recognizing the evolving nature of modern warfare, the Azerbaijan military leadership proposed the establishment of a more comprehensive training program, focusing on advanced technologies, cyber warfare, and electronic warfare capabilities.
Later, the delegation visited the PAF Cyber Command at Air Headquarters, where they were briefed on the operational capabilities and ongoing modernization projects of the PAF.
This visit underscores the commitment of both Azerbaijan and Pakistan to strengthen their military partnership, promote collaboration, and enhance bilateral relations.
