Pakistan, Sri Lanka to enhance cooperation in military aviation
Air Marshal Rajapaksa, commander of
the Sri Lankan Air Force, has expressed high praise for the Pakistan Air Force
(PAF), commending the "flawless execution" of the Indus Shield 2024
air exercises, which involved participants from friendly nations.
Indus Shield-2024, the largest
multinational regional exercise, included air forces from 24 countries such as
Saudi Arabia, Egypt, and Türkiye, aimed at enhancing interoperability and training
through advanced facilities. The event showcased the multi-domain warfighting
capabilities of the PAF and underscored the value of collaboration among global
air forces.
During his visit, Air Marshal
Rajapaksa met PAF Chief Air Chief Marshal Sidhu at Air Headquarters in
Islamabad. Their discussions covered a range of operational topics related to
regional security.

“The Sri Lankan Air Force Commander
commended the PAF’s achievements in indigenization and its strategic
transformation into a Next Generation Air Force under the current leadership,”
the ISPR stated.
Air Marshal Rajapaksa also praised
PAF personnel’s professionalism and the role of the PAF in organizing the event
that united top air forces worldwide. The PAF chief outlined ongoing
modernization efforts within the Pakistan Air Force, focusing on operational
strategies and future warfare.

The Sri Lankan air chief emphasized
enhancing military ties between Sri Lanka and Pakistan, particularly in
training, maintenance, and operational skill development for the Sri Lankan Air
Force. The Chief of Air Staff assured Pakistan’s continued support for these
collaborative efforts, the ISPR added.
