PIA takes action against crew member after passport scandal
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) took swift action by
suspending a flight attendant, Hina Sani, who was briefly detained in Toronto,
Canada, along with two colleagues for carrying passports not authorized for
international travel.
The incident occurred on a Lahore-Toronto flight (PK-789), where
Canadian immigration authorities seized multiple passports from the crew on
Friday. Despite their subsequent release and permission to return to Pakistan
after investigations, the situation drew negative attention to the flag carrier
due to previous scandals involving Sani.

Canada
Responding promptly, PIA management suspended Sani pending further
action based on the investigation report from Canadian Customs. Spokesman
Abdullah Hafeez Khan affirmed that the airline was actively engaged with
Canadian authorities, vowing cooperation and signaling impending departmental
and legal measures following the inquiry.
A PIA representative confirmed the release of the three female
crew members after the investigation, indicating their scheduled return to
Pakistan on Saturday. This incident, reminiscent of a recent case involving
another PIA air hostess, Maryam Raza, who went missing in Canada last month
after a flight from Islamabad to Toronto, has cast a negative shadow on
Pakistan once again.
