Saudi Arabia to renovate Dalbandin Airport in Balochistan
The Saudi government has
pledged support for the renovation of an airport in Pakistan's largest
province, Balochistan. Specifically, Saudi Arabia will assist in addressing the
deteriorating condition of Dalbandin Airport situated in Balochistan.
This support will involve
financial cooperation from Saudi Arabia to refurbish the runway of Dalbandin
Airport, primarily utilized for domestic flights.

The renovation project aims to
enhance the airport's aesthetics for passengers and ensure smoother landings
for airlines operating in the region. Although an official announcement is
pending, reliable sources indicate that renovation work is slated to commence
next month. Previously, the lack of proper runway surfacing posed challenges
for aircraft landings at the airport.
Pakistan is currently undergoing
significant changes in its aviation sector. On one front, the government is
pursuing the privatization of the national carrier, Pakistan International
Airlines (PIA). Simultaneously, plans are in motion to outsource operations at
three major airports nationwide.

Under these plans, Islamabad
International Airport, Jinnah International Airport in Karachi, and Allama
Iqbal International Airport in Lahore are slated for outsourcing to enhance
service efficiency for passengers.
The government has assured that during privatization or outsourcing processes, the interests of employees will be safeguarded. However, the privatization of the national carrier has sparked protests among employees concerned about potential unemployment.
