Indian passenger plane makes emergency landing at Karachi
A passenger plane of India’s IndiGo Airlines
Monday was compelled to make an emergency landing at Karachi airport after the
death of a passenger mid-flight.
According to the Civil Aviation Authority (CAA),
the IndiGo flight 6E-1736 that departed from Delhi at 10:17 pm Sunday night was
flying enroute to Doha.
The flight was diverted to the Jinnah
International Airport in Pakistan’s Karachi due to the medical emergency on
board, said authorities.
Upon being informed of the medical emergency by
the flight’s captain, Karachi Air Traffic Control gave a green signal to the Indian
aircraft plane for landing.
The 60-year-old passenger, named Abdullah, was a
Nigerian citizen and expired before the plane landed.
In a statement, IndiGo airline said it was making arrangements for transferring other passengers on the flight in coordination with the relevant authorities.
