Improvement of Faisalabad
Airport runway to complete by end of February
Work on
maintenance and upgradation of Faisalabad International Airport is underway and
is expected to be completed by end of February, 2023.
This was
stated by Airport Manager Anwar Zia during a meeting with Dr Khurram Tariq, President Faisalabad Chamber of
Commerce and Industry (FCCI) in Faisalabad.
The Airport Manager said the
airport was handling weekly 120 flights but that number declined due to corona
pandemic.
He said the secondary runway
has been upgraded with an estimated cost of Rs 6bn to accommodate the
landing and take-off of wide-bodied airplanes. He was optimistic that Qatar and
other international airlines would start their operation early this year
at the upgraded runway.
Anwar Zia said that work on
the air cargo terminal is also in the final stages and hopefully it would
become operational by March.
