Saudi aviation delegation assesses security of Pakistani airports
On Wednesday, an eight-member team from Saudi
Arabia's General Authority of Civil Aviation (GACA) successfully concluded the
initial phase of their visit to Pakistan, specifically to assess the security
processes and arrangements at Karachi airport.
Led by Lead Inspector Mohammad Al-Ajami, the
team conducted inspections at various entities involved in aviation security,
including Pakistan's national carrier PIA, Gerry's-Dnata (the world's largest
air services provider offering ground handling), the Airport Security Force
(ASF), and Saudi Airlines.
Pakistan's Civil Aviation Authority issued a
statement, announcing the departure of Saudia's 8-member GACA aviation security
delegation from Karachi after completing the first part of their visit. During
their time in Karachi, the inspectors closely observed and evaluated different
security processes concerning the safety of passengers, cargo, catering, and
baggage at the airport.
Their inspections covered various aspects,
such as passenger pre-boarding procedures, non-passenger screening, hold
baggage screening, CCTV systems, and restricted area access, among other
security measures implemented at Jinnah International Airport Karachi.
Upon completing their inspection, the
delegates expressed satisfaction with the implementation of the security
systems and provided a few recommendations to the Civil Aviation Authority
(CAA) for future consideration, aiming to further enhance security measures.
The GACA's security delegation will return to
Pakistan on June 13 to commence the second phase of inspections at Lahore,
Sialkot, Multan, Islamabad, and Peshawar airports.
