PIA, Saudia seek to strengthen aviation ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) and Saudia Group have explored potential areas of cooperation and strategic opportunities in the aviation sector as both sides look to strengthen industry ties between Pakistan and Saudi Arabia.
Saudia Group Director General Engr. Ibrahim AlOmar held discussions with a PIA delegation during a meeting coordinated with the Saudi-Pakistani Joint Business Council, chaired by Prince Mansour bin Mohammed Al Saud.
The talks focused on aviation-related opportunities, strategic projects and developments across the sector, at a time when Saudi Arabia is expanding its position as a major global hub for air travel and logistics.
PIA Delegation Visits Saudia Facilities
As part of the visit, the PIA delegation toured several subsidiaries of Saudia Group, gaining an insight into the group’s maintenance, training and other aviation-related operations.

The facilities are supported largely by Saudi professionals and form part of the country’s efforts to develop domestic aviation expertise and strengthen the competitiveness of its aviation industry.
Saudia said these initiatives also contribute to the broader objectives of Saudi Vision 2030, which seeks to diversify the Saudi economy and develop the Kingdom into a leading global transportation and logistics hub.
Saudia Posts Strong Operational Performance
The discussions come as Saudia continues to report strong operational results.
According
to global aviation analytics firm Cirium, Saudia ranked as the world’s best-performing
airline for on-time arrivals in July 2026, recording an on-time arrival rate of
87.24% across 16,406 flights.
The
performance was achieved during the peak summer travel season, when airlines
faced increased passenger demand and additional operational pressures.

Saudia
attributed the result to close coordination across its group, cooperation with
aviation partners and airports, and the growing use of digital technologies and
artificial intelligence.
The
airline said these technologies are helping enhance operational planning,
accelerate decision-making and improve the efficiency of day-to-day flight
operations.
The
latest engagement between PIA and Saudia highlights the potential for deeper
cooperation in aviation, particularly in areas such as technical capabilities,
training, operational expertise and strategic industry development.
