Pakistani flight simulator undergoes week-long training in Finland
Muhammad Abdulahad Khan, a team member of Pakistan-based
flight simulator developer FSDC Aerosolutions, has completed an advanced Flight
Simulation Training Device (FSTD) Evaluators Full Course in Helsinki, Finland, strengthening
Pakistan’s expertise in simulator evaluation and qualification.
Khan completed the six-day programme, organised by
Training Technology International (TTI) at Coptersafety, in July 2026. The
course combines classroom-based instruction with practical evaluation exercises
for professionals involved in the assessment, qualification and operation of
flight simulation training devices.
The programme covered key international regulatory and
technical requirements, including the European Union Aviation Safety Agency’s
(EASA) CS-FSTD standards and the US Federal Aviation Administration’s (FAA) 14
CFR Part 60 requirements.
Khan said the training also focused on Qualification
Test Guide (QTG) assessment, objective and subjective testing, simulator
fidelity and FSTD qualification procedures.

A notable element of the course was the FSTD Capability Signature concept
introduced under EASA’s revised regulatory framework, providing a framework for
assessing and documenting the capabilities of simulation devices.
According to TTI, the programme is designed for a broad
range of professionals, including aviation regulators, FSTD operators and
users, simulator manufacturers, military organisations and personnel involved
in simulator procurement and qualification.
The practical component of the training included
evaluation procedures and QTG-related assessments, allowing participants to
gain hands-on experience beyond conventional classroom-based study of aviation
regulations.
Strengthening Pakistan’s simulation industry
FSDC Aerosolutions is the simulator and synthetic
training systems division of Aerosolutions (Pvt.) Ltd. The company is involved
in the design, development, integration and support of fixed-wing and
rotary-wing simulation and mixed-reality training systems.
Its portfolio includes full-motion flight simulators,
virtual and extended-reality (VR/XR) systems and customised simulation
solutions for aviation training.
Khan’s completion of the specialised course comes as
Pakistan’s domestic flight simulation sector continues to expand. FSDC has
previously undertaken several projects aimed at strengthening the country’s
indigenous simulation capabilities.

These include the delivery of three full-motion
simulators to the Pakistan Aviation Institute of Simulator Training in 2024 and
the development of what the company described as Pakistan’s first mixed-reality
rotary-wing simulator, delivered in June 2025.
The latest qualification represents another step in building local expertise
not only in simulator development but also in the evaluation, testing and
certification processes required to meet international aviation training
standards.
