PIA expands codeshare with Turkish Airlines for Summer 2026, adds two European routes

PIA adds Amsterdam and Bologna routes in partnership with Turkish Airlines

At the start of the Northern Summer 2026 schedule, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to expand its codeshare partnership with Turkish Airlines by adding two additional European routes to their cooperation network.

Under the updated agreement, PIA will place its flight code on selected Turkish Airlines services from Istanbul to key European destinations. The changes are scheduled to take effect on 29 March 2026, aligning with the global summer aviation timetable.

New and Resumed Codeshare Routes

The expansion will include the following services operated by Turkish Airlines but marketed by PIA:

·        Istanbul – Amsterdam – This route marks the resumption of a codeshare arrangement that had been suspended since December 2024.

·        Istanbul – Bologna – A newly added route under the partnership, offering PIA passengers access to northern Italy.

Strategic Importance

The expansion strengthens connectivity for passengers traveling from Pakistan to Europe through Turkish Airlines’ major hub at Istanbul Airport. By placing its code on these flights, PIA can offer customers additional European destinations without operating the routes directly.

For travelers, the arrangement allows single-ticket itineraries, coordinated baggage handling, and integrated schedules, improving access to cities across Europe while leveraging Turkish Airlines’ extensive international network.

Partnership Background

The cooperation between PIA and Turkish Airlines has been part of a broader effort by the Pakistani flag carrier to expand its international reach through partnerships while managing fleet and operational constraints. The addition of Amsterdam and Bologna further enhances travel options for passengers connecting between Pakistan, Türkiye, and the wider European market.

Industry observers view the move as a cost-efficient way for PIA to broaden its network footprint while strengthening commercial ties with one of Europe’s largest global carriers
