Pre-immigration system to be launched to accelerate travel from Pakistan to UAE
Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates have agreed to introduce a
pre-immigration clearance system that will allow passengers traveling from
Pakistan to avoid long immigration queues upon arrival in the UAE.
The agreement was finalized during a meeting
between Federal Interior Minister Mohsin Naqvi and a UAE delegation headed by
Ahmed bin Lahij Al Falasi, Director General of Customs and Port Security. The
talks focused on enhancing bilateral cooperation, particularly in easing travel
and immigration procedures.
Under the proposed arrangement, immigration
formalities for UAE-bound passengers will be completed in Pakistan prior to
departure. Karachi has been selected as the pilot city for the initial phase of
the initiative.

Minister Naqvi said the system would
significantly cut processing times for travelers, allowing them to exit UAE
airports as if they were domestic passengers.
“This initiative will make travel more
convenient, save valuable time, and greatly enhance the overall passenger
experience,” he said.
The UAE delegation welcomed the move,
describing it as mutually beneficial, and assured full cooperation in its
implementation.
Both sides agreed to maintain close coordination
to finalize the administrative and technical framework for the pilot project.
Following a successful rollout, the pre-clearance system will be extended to
other airports across Pakistan.
