A mutual visa waiver agreement between the United Arab Emirates and Pakistan for diplomatic and official passport holders has officially come into effect at all UAE airports, announced Ishaq Dar, Pakistan’s Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister.

The visa waiver agreement was signed during the 12th session of the Pakistan-UAE Joint Ministerial Commission (JMC) held in Abu Dhabi in late June. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was designed to become effective 30 days after signing, providing visa-free entry for holders of diplomatic and official passports between the two countries.

“I am pleased to confirm that I have been informed by UAE authorities that the visa waiver for Pakistani diplomatic and official passport holders is now operational across all UAE airports,” said Dar. He also noted that reciprocal arrangements for UAE diplomatic and official passport holders have been activated at all Pakistani airports.

The development marks a significant step forward in strengthening bilateral ties between the UAE and Pakistan, who share robust diplomatic, cultural, and economic relations. Over 1.7 million Pakistanis live and work in the UAE, while hundreds of thousands visit annually for tourism and business.
