PSO to supply jet fuel to Pakistan Airports Authority
The Pakistan
Airports Authority (PAA) has entered into a fresh agreement with Pakistan State Oil (PSO) to ensure an
uninterrupted supply of jet fuel for its aircraft, officials confirmed on
Monday.
Under the agreement, PSO will provide
aviation-grade fuel for PAA’s two flight inspection aircraft, which are used
for calibration and monitoring tasks essential to air navigation and airport
safety across the country.

A PAA spokesperson said the collaboration would
help sustain safe and reliable air services nationwide, noting that the
inspection aircraft play a vital role in maintaining smooth airport operations.
PAA currently manages around 400 to 450
overflights each day. Overflight charges are calculated based on an aircraft’s
maximum takeoff weight (MTOW) and range between $0.44 and $1.30 per kilometer.
The authority does not levy fees directly on passengers, while excise duties
are collected by the Federal Board of Revenue
(FBR).
In addition, PAA charges airport departure
fees of PKR 600 for domestic flights and PKR 4,600 for international flights.
These funds are used to upgrade airport infrastructure, modernize facilities,
and improve passenger services to ensure safe, efficient, and comfortable
travel.

fees are also determined by MTOW, while parking charges are calculated per ton
per hour, with the first two hours exempt for all aircraft. Officials said the
new fuel supply arrangement is expected to further strengthen the reliability
and efficiency of air operations managed by the Pakistan Airport Authority.
