PAF test fires cruise missile with a range of up to 600 kms
The Pakistan Air
Force (PAF) has successfully carried out the flight test of the
indigenously developed Taimoor Weapon System, marking a key milestone in
strengthening the country’s aerospace and defence capabilities.
According to a statement issued by the Inter Services Public Relations
(ISPR) on Saturday, the Taimoor Air-Launched Cruise Missile can accurately
engage land and sea targets at a range of up to 600 kilometres and is equipped
with a conventional warhead.

The missile features advanced navigation and
guidance systems and is designed to fly at very low altitudes, allowing it to
evade enemy air and missile defence systems effectively. ISPR said the weapon’s
precision-strike capability significantly enhances the PAF’s conventional
deterrence and operational flexibility, contributing to Pakistan’s overall
defence posture.
The successful test reflects the growing
technical maturity, innovation and self-reliance of Pakistan’s defence
industry. Senior officers of the armed forces, along with scientists and
engineers involved in the missile’s development, witnessed the launch.

Ahmed Baber Sidhu congratulated the scientists, engineers and PAF personnel on
the achievement, praising their professionalism, dedication and commitment to
strengthening national defence. He said such milestones demonstrated Pakistan’s

conventional deterrent amid evolving regional security challenges.

President Asif Ali Zardari also lauded the
PAF, stating that the indigenous development of advanced weapons reflected national
capability, determination and institutional strength. He said the test
reinforced Pakistan’s defence as well as its responsible approach to regional

Minister Shehbaz Sharif congratulated the nation and the PAF, commending the
military leadership, including the air chief, and the scientists and engineers
associated with the missile programme. He said the successful test showcased
technological maturity and innovation while underscoring the Air Force’s
