Chinese Southern Airlines strengthening air connectivity between China and Pakistan
China Southern
Airlines, Asia’s largest carrier, transported more than 90,000 passengers
on 527 flights between China and Pakistan in 2025, significantly strengthening
air connectivity between the two countries under the broader Air Silk Road
initiative.
The airline resumed its Lahore–Guangzhou service
on December 20, 2023, after a suspension that began on February 27, 2019. The
route has since been expanded to seven weekly flights operated by Airbus A330
aircraft. This increase in frequency has enhanced passenger capacity and
connectivity, benefiting business travelers, students, and tourists while
supporting growing trade and people-to-people exchanges between Pakistan and
China.

China
Southern Airlines to increase Lahore flights from January 1, 2026
From January 1 to December 31, 2025, China
Southern Airlines carried 42,000 passengers on 193 flights along the
Lahore–Guangzhou route. In addition, services operating from Islamabad to
Urumqi and Guangzhou transported 48,000 passengers across 334 flights during
the same period.
The launch of the Air Silk Road has
accelerated deeper aviation integration between Pakistan and China. Lahore, the
capital of Punjab—Pakistan’s most populous province with over 100 million
residents—serves as a major hub for business and trade. The increased flight
frequency between Lahore and Guangzhou is therefore expected to further boost
bilateral air travel and economic cooperation.
