The move is expected to improve air connectivity between China and Pakistan, offering greater convenience for business travellers, students, and tourists. It is also seen as a boost for trade links and people-to-people exchanges between the two countries.

In a related development, Pakistan’s air links with Sri Lanka are also set to strengthen. Low-cost carrier FitsAir will launch twice-weekly flights from Colombo to Lahore beginning January 20, 2026. The service will operate on Tuesdays and Saturdays using an Airbus A320, providing travellers with more options on the route.
