Pakistan, Bangladesh air chiefs discuss enhanced cooperation between their air forces

Air Force Chief Marshal Hasan Mahmood Khan met Pakistan
Air Force (PAF) Chief Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu in
Islamabad on Tuesday to discuss strengthening defense cooperation, including
the possible procurement of JF-17 Thunder fighter jets, the Inter-Services
Public Relations (ISPR) said.
The visiting Bangladeshi air chief
was welcomed with a guard of honour at PAF headquarters. According to ISPR, the
meeting focused on expanding bilateral collaboration in operational
coordination, training, capacity building, and aerospace development.
ACM Sidhu briefed his counterpart on
recent advancements within the PAF and reaffirmed Pakistan’s commitment to
supporting Bangladesh through a comprehensive training framework, covering
basic flying instruction as well as advanced and specialized courses. He also
assured the early delivery of Super Mushshak trainer aircraft, along with
long-term training and maintenance support.

The Bangladeshi delegation expressed
interest in benefiting from PAF’s operational experience and sought assistance
in maintaining its ageing aircraft fleet. Discussions also included the
integration of air defense radar systems to strengthen Bangladesh’s air
surveillance capabilities.
During the visit, the delegation
toured several key PAF facilities, including the National ISR and Integrated
Air Operations Centre, PAF Cyber Command, and the National Aerospace Science
and Technology Park.
ISPR said the visit reflected the
two countries’ longstanding ties and a shared commitment to deepening defense
cooperation. The talks point to a growing strategic partnership between
Pakistan and Bangladesh in aviation, defense technology, and operational
collaboration, aimed at enhancing long-term regional security.
