Low-cost carrier of Sri Lanka to increase connectivity with Pakistan

Sri Lankan low-cost carrier FitsAir is set to commence direct flights between Colombo and Lahore from January 20, further strengthening air connectivity between Pakistan and Sri Lanka.

The airline will operate two weekly services using its Airbus A320 aircraft, with flights scheduled on Tuesdays and Saturdays.

According to FitsAir, the new route will provide Pakistani travellers with an affordable option to travel to Colombo and connect onward to destinations across the region. At the same time, it will offer Sri Lankan visitors easier access to northern Pakistan.

FitsAir began operations in 1997 under the name ExpoAir, initially focusing on domestic and international cargo services. Over more than two decades, the airline built a strong reputation as a dependable logistics operator, often supporting supply chains during periods of political and economic instability in Sri Lanka.

In 2022, the company rebranded as FitsAir and expanded into passenger operations, becoming Sri Lanka’s first private airline to operate international commercial flights. Since then, it has steadily grown its network across South Asia and the Middle East.

Meanwhile, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA), after resuming UK operations in late 2025, has restarted direct flights from Islamabad to Manchester and is preparing to launch four weekly non-stop services from Islamabad to London starting March 29.
