Airlines (PIA) and Bangladesh’s national carrier, Biman Bangladesh Airlines, have
signed what both sides describe as a “landmark” agreement aimed at streamlining
air-cargo movement between the two countries.
In a statement issued Monday, a PIA spokesperson said the
arrangement will take effect on December 1. Under the deal, major Saudi cities
— Jeddah, Medina and Riyadh — will serve as key transit hubs for cargo
operations.

“This partnership will create a strategic corridor for regional
trade,” the statement said, adding that the agreement is expected to reduce
logistical hurdles in transporting high-value goods such as textiles,
pharmaceuticals and agricultural products.
It further noted that the combined route networks of both
national carriers will enable “high-quality and cost-effective cargo
solutions.”

The development comes as PIA prepares to resume UK operations. On October 4, the airline announced that it would restart flights to the United Kingdom from October 25, beginning with nonstop service between Manchester and Islamabad. A day earlier, the Pakistan High Commission in London confirmed that PIA had regained its Foreign Aircraft Operating Permit from the UK Civil Aviation Authority, along with Third Country Operator approval, paving the way for the resumption of flights.
