Civil Aviation Authority to construct cargo complex at Quetta Airport
The Civil Aviation Authority (CAA)
has announced plans to establish a state-of-the-art cargo complex at Quetta
International Airport to enhance trade and export facilities.
CAA Terminal Manager Sardar Sadiq
and Deputy Facilitation Manager Sabir Ali shared this development during a
meeting with officials and members of the Quetta Chamber of Commerce and
Industry (QCCI) on Tuesday.

Senior QCCI members, including Haji
Abdullah Achakzai and Haji Agha Gul Khilji, raised concerns over the absence of
cargo terminal facilities at Quetta airport. They highlighted that despite
ongoing expansion efforts, exporters and importers from Balochistan still rely
on Karachi airport for air shipments, causing delays—particularly for
perishable goods such as fresh fruits, vegetables, meat, dates, and seafood.
“The lack of large-scale cargo
services in Quetta has long hindered business growth. Establishing a modern,
international-standard cargo complex will significantly benefit Balochistan’s
trade sector and boost economic activity,” noted a senior QCCI member.
CAA officials explained that their
visit aimed to assess the cargo service requirements of the business community.
Based on an evaluation of the volume of commercial exports from Quetta, a
feasibility report will be prepared, and the project will be included in the
Annual Development Plan.

The proposed cargo complex will
feature cutting-edge facilities to ensure the swift handling of goods. The CAA
reaffirmed its commitment to addressing logistical challenges and engaging with
business leaders to advance the project.
To expedite the process, CAA
officials requested QCCI to submit a formal request to the airport management
and relevant authorities, facilitating the reception of commercial delegations.
