Lahore High Court to decide the fate of PIA privatization
The Lahore High Court (LHC) Rawalpindi Bench on
Wednesday adjourned the hearing of the Pakistan International Airlines (PIA)
privatization case until June 27, amid concerns over alleged legal violations
and a lack of transparency in the process.
During the session presided over by Justice
Jawad Hassan, petitioners' counsels Nazakat Hussain Abbasi and AR Kattak
challenged the privatization, claiming that PIA was being sold for just Rs. 36
million. They argued that the process breached Sections 23 and 24 of the
relevant regulations and urged the court to halt what they described as an
illegal sale of the national flag carrier.

that a Rs. 36 million bid had indeed been received, though the sale had not yet
been finalized.
Government counsel Advocate Zain was also
present during the proceedings.
The
court will resume the hearing on June 27.
