PIA launches direct flights to Baku from Lahore and Karachi
Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has officially launched direct flights from Lahore and Karachi to Baku, Azerbaijan, enhancing air connectivity and fostering stronger travel and trade ties between the two nations.
The airline will now operate two
direct flights per week from Lahore to Baku, scheduled every Wednesday and
Saturday. This new route follows the recent launch of PIA’s Karachi-Baku
service, which commenced on March 16. The Lahore route began shortly after,
with the inaugural flight taking off on March 19.
This strategic move is part of PIA’s
broader initiative to promote tourism and facilitate business travel. To mark
the occasion, PIA hosted a special event for travel agents and tour operators,
sharing details about the new service and its potential benefits.

Azerbaijan’s Civil Aviation Authority (CAA) has granted approval for the bi-weekly operations. With Baku emerging as a favored destination among Pakistani travelers, the direct connection is expected to significantly ease travel. The Azerbaijani capital offers a captivating blend of history and modernity—featuring landmarks such as the UNESCO-listed Old City, the futuristic Flame Towers, and the picturesque Caspian Sea Boulevard.
Additionally, Pakistani tourists can
now obtain Azerbaijani visas conveniently through an efficient e-visa system,
further simplifying the travel process.
