Pakistan, Bahrain discuss expanding cooperation between their air forces

Bahrain military commander holds meeting with PAF chief to enhance air force cooperation 

General Shaikh Mohammed Bin Isa Bin Salman Al Khalifa, Commander of the Bahrain National Guard, met with Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed Baber Sidhu, Chief of the Air Staff, Pakistan Air Force (PAF), during his visit to Air Headquarters, Islamabad. The two dignitaries discussed key areas of mutual interest aimed at enhancing bilateral military cooperation between the two Air Forces.

Strengthening Defense and Training Collaborations

During the meeting, Air Chief Marshal Sidhu shared insights into PAF’s modernization strategy, which includes smart acquisitions from allied nations, infrastructure upgrades, and advanced training programs to address modern warfare challenges. He emphasized the historic and religious ties between Pakistan and Bahrain, underscoring their deep-rooted brotherhood and longstanding defense collaboration.

“Pakistan values its strong diplomatic, economic, and defense partnership with Bahrain, built on shared interests in regional peace, security, and stability,” the Air Chief stated.

Bahrain’s Interest in Expanding Defense Ties

General Al Khalifa commended the professionalism of PAF personnel and acknowledged the remarkable progress made by the force, particularly in indigenization. He expressed Bahrain’s keen interest in expanding Air Force-to-Air Force cooperation, particularly in:

  • Operational Readiness: Exploring PAF’s multi-domain capabilities to strengthen the Bahrain Air Force.
  • Training & Technology: Seeking assistance from PAF in establishing training programs from basic to tactical levels, with a focus on Space, Cyber, and Electronic Warfare.
  • Defense Procurement: Expressing interest in acquiring advanced equipment from Pakistan’s National Aerospace Science & Technology Park to support Bahrain’s defense modernization efforts.

General Al Khalifa also announced that his visit would be followed by a high-level delegation from the Bahrain Air Force for formal negotiations on defense collaboration.

Visit to ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre

The Bahraini Commander later visited the National ISR & Integrated Air Operations Centre at Air Headquarters, where he was given a comprehensive briefing on PAF’s operational capabilities.

A Commitment to Stronger Military Partnership

The meeting reaffirmed Pakistan and Bahrain’s commitment to strengthening military ties, fostering collaboration in emerging technologies, and enhancing training and defense industry cooperation. Both sides pledged to further consolidate their partnership in aviation, defense modernization, and strategic operations.

This high-level engagement marks another step forward in deepening military cooperation between the two allied nations.
