Fly Jinnah &
Air Arabia get approval to launch training academy in Pakistan
The Competition Commission of
Pakistan (CCP) has granted approval for a joint venture between Fly Jinnah
Services (Private) Limited and Air Arabia Academy LLC. The two companies will
collaborate to establish the Fly Jinnah T3 Flight Academy (Private) Limited, a
new aviation training institute in Pakistan.
The Commission reviewed the pre-merger
application submitted by the parties in accordance with the Competition (Merger
Control) Regulations, 2016. Under the agreement, both Fly Jinnah and Air Arabia
Academy will jointly invest in the new training institution.

Upon evaluating the competition
implications, the CCP determined that the transaction is of a conglomerate
nature with no overlapping business activities. Fly Jinnah operates in
commercial airline services, while Air Arabia Academy specializes in aviation
training in the UAE. The new venture will operate as a fully-functioning
entity, enhancing the availability and quality of aviation training services in
Pakistan.
The CCP’s assessment concluded that
the merger is unlikely to significantly reduce competition or create a dominant
position in the market. As a result, the merger has been approved under Section
31(1)(d)(i) of the Competition Act.
This partnership is expected to
positively impact Pakistan's aviation sector by strengthening technical
training infrastructure and creating new opportunities for skill development.
