PIA delegation in the UK to evaluate preparations for launch of direct flights
A senior delegation from Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) has arrived
in the United Kingdom (UK) to review arrangements for resuming flight
operations.
The delegation, led by PIA’s Chief Operating Officer Khyber Mashriq, is in
the UK to evaluate preparations for the launch of direct flights, which are set
to begin in March. During their visit, PIA officials will inspect operational
arrangements at airports in London, Manchester, and Birmingham. The airline has
already finalized its flight operation plans for the UK and issued a tender for
catering services.

This visit is part of PIA’s ongoing efforts to resume direct flights to the
UK, a service that was suspended in 2020. Sources indicate that PIA plans to
utilize its Boeing 777 aircraft for the UK operations and is also developing
strategies for expanding flights to other European destinations.
Earlier this year, on January 10, after a four-and-a-half-year hiatus, a PIA
flight successfully landed at CDG Airport in Paris, marking the airline's
return to European operations. The airline’s passengers, along with PIA
officials, aviation staff, and crew members, were warmly welcomed at the
airport by Charge d’Affaires Ms. Huzefa Khanum and members of the Pakistani
community.

Ms. Khanum, in her welcome address, described the resumption of flights as a
significant gift for overseas Pakistanis from the government. She highlighted
that the return of these services would further strengthen the ties between
Pakistan, France, and the European Union, enhancing trade, tourism, business,
and people-to-people connections.
