The airline will also introduce a weekly flight between Peshawar and Karachi, beginning January 25, and a weekly flight between Sialkot and Doha starting January 21.

On December 30, 2024, PIA’s acting Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Khurram Mushtaq, unveiled plans to reintroduce several grounded aircraft into service beginning next year.

Mushtaq outlined that the airline intends to reactivate Boeing 777 and Airbus aircraft within the next six months, boosting its operational fleet to 24 planes.

Currently, only 16 of PIA’s 34 aircraft are operational. However, within three weeks, the airline’s team worked tirelessly to bring three planes back into service, including a Boeing 777, an Airbus 320, and an ATR. As a result, the active fleet has now increased to 19 aircraft.

The CEO emphasized that Boeing 777 aircraft would be primarily used for operations to European destinations.

“Our goal is to have all 34 of PIA’s aircraft operational within this year,” Mushtaq stated, noting that these efforts are expected to significantly boost the airline’s revenue.

In addition, PIA has approved a 25% salary increase for its employees.

Last year, Pakistan International Airlines added two more aircraft to its operational fleet.
