Airport Security Force (ASF) imparted training to improve airport security
The United Nations Office on Drugs
and Crime (UNODC), with support from the Government of Canada, has successfully
concluded a three-week training program to enhance the tactical and operational
skills of Pakistan’s Airport Security Force (ASF) in improving airport
security.
The training focused on preparing
ASF personnel to address live threats within airport premises and onboard
aircraft. Participants were trained in neutralizing mid-flight threats to
ensure the safety of passengers, crew, and aircraft. Key areas covered included
behavioral threat assessment, effective communication among security teams and
flight crew, and tactical engagement to disarm and contain active threats.

The program incorporated both
hands-on tactical training and classroom sessions, building on earlier UNODC
initiatives such as behavioral analysis, communication strategies, and
comprehensive threat assessments. Together, these efforts aim to strengthen the
ASF’s ability to screen individuals and mitigate potential risks effectively.
This initiative is part of a broader
project to enhance airport security across Pakistan, funded through Canada's
Anti-Crime and Counter-Terrorism Capacity Building Programs. The collaboration
underscores UNODC’s commitment to fostering international partnerships to
advance national and global security measures.
