PIA to expand fleet to resume flights to UK, Europe

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) is set to enhance its operational capacity by reactivating two grounded aircraft—a Boeing 777 and an Airbus A320—bringing its active fleet to 18. This development aims to meet growing passenger demand and support the airline's revenue growth.

Boeing 777 Returns to Service

Grounded for over a year, the Boeing 777 is scheduled to resume operations on January 10, 2025, with its first flight bound for Paris. The wide-body aircraft, which seats 440 passengers, plays a critical role in PIA’s European flight operations and is expected to be essential for the upcoming Hajj season.

The airline confirmed that the required engines for the aircraft will arrive in Pakistan within the next two days, ensuring its readiness for service.

Airbus A320 to Boost Operations

The reactivation of the Airbus A320 will enhance both domestic and international routes. With its versatility and fuel efficiency, the A320 is well-suited to increase flight frequency and cater to rising passenger numbers.

Strategic Goals

By expanding its fleet, PIA aims to strengthen its position on high-capacity routes, particularly in Europe, and improve service for Hajj pilgrims. This move marks a significant step in the airline's efforts to revitalize operations and boost revenue through increased connectivity.

PIA’s commitment to enhancing its fleet signals a renewed focus on operational excellence and passenger satisfaction as the airline strives to meet the demands of a competitive aviation market.
