In a landmark decision, Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) employees are set to benefit from a 25% salary increase, as approved by the federal government.

The Privatization Commission announced the raise on Thursday, highlighting the government’s intent to support PIA staff amidst Pakistan’s rising inflation. The pay hike is seen as a significant step toward improving the financial well-being of the airline’s workforce.

In a related development, PIA CEO Khurram Mushtaq revealed plans to expand the airline’s fleet by adding eight new aircraft next year. The announcement was made during a National Assembly Standing Committee on Aviation meeting, chaired by MNA Nawabzada Iftikhar Ahmed Khan Babar at Islamabad International Airport.

The new additions will include wide-body Boeing 777 planes, intended for long-haul routes. This move is expected to enhance PIA’s operational capabilities and service quality for its passengers.
