Technical issue forces PIA flight to make safe emergency landing
A Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) flight en route from Karachi to Islamabad safely returned to Karachi after experiencing a mid-air technical issue shortly after takeoff.
According to a PIA spokesperson, the aircraft's landing gear failed to
retract after departure, prompting the captain to notify air traffic control

PIA CEO Khurram Mushtaq was among the passengers on board. Following the
safe landing, passengers were transferred to another aircraft, which successfully
completed the journey to Islamabad. The affected aircraft was grounded for
repairs.
Efforts to Reactivate
Grounded Aircraft
This incident comes as PIA intensifies efforts to reactivate two grounded
aircraft—a Boeing 777 and an Airbus A320—aimed at bolstering its fleet ahead of
the resumption of European routes.
The Boeing 777, designated for Europe and Hajj operations, had been grounded
for over a year. With its two engines set to arrive in Pakistan soon, the
aircraft is scheduled to resume operations with a flight to Paris on January
10.
