PAF Chief visits IDEAS 2024 defense exhibition 

Pakistan Air Force (PAF) Chief Zaheer Ahmed Babar Sidhu visited the 12th International Defense Exhibition and Seminar (IDEAS 2024) at the Karachi Expo Centre on Thursday.

During his visit, Air Chief Marshal Zaheer Ahmed explored various exhibits within the National Aerospace Science & Technology Park pavilion. The pavilion prominently featured cutting-edge advancements in space technology, cyber systems, artificial intelligence (AI), electronic warfare, aerospace design, sensors, and simulators.

The Air Chief emphasized the importance of creating a dynamic ecosystem to foster innovation and growth in the aerospace sector. He stressed the need for venture capitalism to support emerging technologies and encouraged utilizing the National Incubation Center for Aerospace Technology (NICAT) to develop local talent and strengthen Pakistan’s defense industry capabilities.

While engaging with foreign delegates, the Air Chief discussed avenues for promoting indigenously developed aerospace technologies. These interactions aimed to enhance the sale and acquisition of advanced defense systems while reinforcing Pakistan’s vision of a self-reliant defense industry.

IDEAS 2024 Highlights

The 12th edition of IDEAS commenced on November 19 and runs until November 22 at the Karachi Expo Centre. The event aims to enhance the global presence of Pakistan's defense industry, with the Special Investment Facilitation Council (SIFC) playing a key role in facilitating growth.

The exhibition showcases a broad range of advanced defense assets, including:

  • Armored vehicles
  • Combat aircraft
  • Helicopters
  • Naval vessels and submarines
  • Drones and missile systems

Significant advancements in cybersecurity, satellite technology, and electronic warfare were also highlighted, showcasing Pakistan’s growing expertise in defense manufacturing.

Made-in-Pakistan Haider Tank Debuts
Among the standout exhibits was the Haider Battle Tank, a locally developed armored vehicle featuring advanced systems. Its unveiling underscored Pakistan’s commitment to innovation and indigenous production in the defense sector.

IDEAS 2024 not only serves as a platform for showcasing cutting-edge technologies but also strengthens Pakistan’s role in fostering international collaborations and advancing its defense capabilities.
