Speaking at the event, Dr. Jameel
Kazmi, Vice Chancellor of Fatimah University, emphasized the critical role of
space-based solutions in addressing climate change, noting its severe impact on
Pakistan. He stressed the importance of raising awareness on this pressing
issue in educational institutions.
Dr. Kazmi also highlighted the need
for sustainable urban plantation practices, critiquing the common practice of
introducing non-native tree species that harm biodiversity. He advocated for
planting fruit trees and ensuring their care. "Unfortunately, most trees
planted during ceremonial drives fail to survive, with only 10% making
it," he remarked.
