Government appoints Nadir Shafi Dar as CAA’s Director General
Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif has
appointed Nadir Shafi Dar as the new Director General of the Civil Aviation
Authority (CAA) for a three-year term, as confirmed by an official government
notification on Wednesday.
Nadir Shafi Dar, who previously held
the position of acting Director General, was chosen following an extensive
selection process. This included interviews with 11 shortlisted candidates,
completed last month. Dar ultimately emerged as the preferred candidate for the
role.
One of the primary challenges
awaiting Dar in his new position will be the restoration of flight operations
by Pakistani airlines to the United Kingdom and Europe. This issue has grown
increasingly urgent since European and British aviation authorities suspended
flights from Pakistan.

Dar’s appointment comes at a pivotal
time for Pakistan’s aviation sector. The CAA is actively working on reforms to
meet international standards, and during his tenure, Nadir Shafi Dar will be
expected to tackle various challenges within the industry.
Last month, the Ministry of Aviation
initiated the process to appoint a new Director General by shortlisting 11
candidates. These interviews were conducted under the leadership of the
aviation minister, following a public advertisement for the role to attract
qualified candidates.
