Plane at Lahore Airport damaged by bird strike
A private airline's aircraft was struck by a bird while taking off from
Lahore's Allama Iqbal International Airport on Tuesday.
The incident occurred as the plane was departing for Karachi, resulting in
damage to one of the aircraft's engines. Passengers were subsequently moved to
the lounge while a technical team from the Civil Aviation Authority was
dispatched to i
nspect the plane.

At least 38 Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) planes were struck by
birds in the first half of 2024. The incidents were reported in various
locations, including Islamabad, Multan, Faisalabad, Gilgit, Sukkur, Jeddah, and
Dubai.
Of the 38 incidents, five PIA aircraft— including an Airbus A320 and three
Boeing 777s—sustained damage, while the others remained largely unaffected.
Bird strikes are a common occurrence worldwide, particularly in Pakistan. The
Civil Aviation Authority has been actively conducting cleanliness drives near
airports to mitigate such risks.

Meanwhile, the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines, initially
expected to be finalized in August, is now anticipated to occur in September,
according to sources familiar with the matter.
